Awards season never seems to end, does it?
Fortunately for me, I love writing award submissions. More importantly, I love working with my clients to isolate the key differentiators of their projects to ensure their submission stands out.
The brief
My client, Arup, a global collective of designers, consultants and experts dedicated to sustainable development, engaged me to write a submission for the Planning Institute of Australia State Awards – for a Sydney project.
Having worked with Arup on various projects over the years, we’ve got a well established rapport, but, as I’m always working with different project teams within the organisation, it’s critical to have a solid process in place.
This time, the award category was Climate Change & Resilience.
As per my usual process, I had an interview with the project leads, and my contact set up the communal file drive so we could share resources and work collaboratively.
The timeline was quite tight, but as I always spend most of my time up-front in the first draft to get it as close to perfect as possible, while addressing the criteria and adhering to the word count, I got the first draft back to the client quickly.
There were a few changes, integrated with client feedback, and it was good to go!
Outcome
The award submission was submitted on time, and now we await the results!
