International Women’s Day: when comms meets sport!

On International Women’s Day eve, I attended the Women In Media WA’s IWD event, She’s A Legend.

I had the absolute privilege of sharing a room with panel chair Miriam Borthwick and panellists, Olympic pole vaulter and Australian record holder, Nina Kennedy, recently retired ABC sports reporter, Karen Tighe and former Chair, Women Onside, Kerry Harris FCPA GAICD.

MCd by Bonnie Raynor and curated by the incredible (voluntary) team at Women in Media WA, the event was beyond fabulous, with diverse points of view and experiences shared.

Combining two of my loves – comms and sport – I was in my element. Oh, and I got to hang with comms / media queens, Kate FergusonAdele Hollywood and Rebecca Haddad.

Superb energy in the room, and I was th’rilled to take home the lucky door prize, The Matilda Effect… #coincidence #almostworemyCaitlinFoordtshirt

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Inspire Inclusion, states: “When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.”

The exponential positive impacts of diversity and inclusiveness, elevating women’s voices, championing champions, and having diverse teams in all aspects of society / community is not news; let’s keep bloody doing it!
